Keith Yeung, Student Intern Counsellor

Life can get heavy at times, and sometimes more than heavy. When it becomes too much to bear and you’re feeling overwhelmed, it can be tempting to just push it all down, pull yourself up by the bootstraps, and carry on. In our fast-paced, demanding world, my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgemental space where you can truly slow down and process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences on your own terms, at your own pace.
I take a collaborative, person-centered approach to counselling and draw on modalities that involve meaning-making, such as existential and narrative therapy, as well as solution focused therapy where appropriate. I believe that as humans, we are natural storytellers and no story is as important as the ones we tell ourselves. Stories can profoundly affect how we view our lives and shape the meanings we give to them. Narrative therapy can help us to take a more critical look at our dominant self-narratives and to write new, preferred stories in their place.
No matter what your struggles may be, I will work alongside you as you learn to navigate through them and help you discover meaningful ways of moving forward.
